Project Risk Management Training
The Challenge
Bluewater was invited by the Pacifica Companies to teach Project
Risk Management for the Lucent Technologies' Learning and Development
Center as part of its Project Management certification curriculum.
To be considered successful, students were required to achieve at least
an 80% grading based upon pre-course work, class assignments, participation
and a closed-book final exam.
The Process
Bluewater's chosen training curriculum utilized two different styles. On the
introductory level, there was a five-day course in which students were expected to learn the basics of
Risk Management and how it was to be completed within the Lucent system. On a review level, Bluewater
provided a second class of two days in length that was focused on review and confirmation, which was to
follow a period of self-paced online training and an online assessment test. Through the two classes,
students would be expected to understand all aspects of Project Risk Management, including risk
identification, risk analysis, risk quantification and response. All would be covered through a
combination of lecture and group assignments designed to maximize student participation and learning.
The Results
As a result of Bluewater's training program, Lucent students achieved a 100% pass
rate with each student well-versed in the rudiments of Project Risk Management.
